Acoustic Guitar Lessons

  • Working with finger picking styles
  • Applying skills and technique to student’s song choice

Electric Guitar Lessons

  • Learning riffs and improvisation often working on a duet with your teacher to learn band skills
  • Working on tone and color
  • Applying theory and ear training techniques
  • Learning tabulator reading and song structure from your favorite tunes

Chord Playing and Chart Reading

  • Learning to play with song demos or recorded vocalists
  • Understanding the chord chart style of music notation (not standard music notes but more of a road map for the song)
  • Working on improvisation techniques like right hand rhythms and finger picking that fit with the song of your choice
  • Focusing on left hand chord structures and increasing finger strength
  • This style of playing works well as accompaniment for the vocalist and is often what we work on with our mixed lesson students

Note Reading and Tablature

  • Learning to read guitar tabs (music notation for guitar players)
  • Learning to read standard treble clef notes
  • Theory and ear training techniques to apply to your songs
  • Focusing on melodic lines and melodies verses chords only
