Practice tips for fall session success

Welcome to fall! I’m excited to begin a new session with all of you at StudioK! I’m looking forward to helping you progress toward your goals! This blog will give you some insight as to how you can get the most out of your lessons. Use these practice tips to optimize your time spent at your instrument.

Practice consistently

The best way to get the most out of your lessons at StudioK is to be consistent. Even if you can only spend 10 or 15 minutes per day on practice, it is better to do it consistently throughout the week instead of practicing for an hour right before your music lesson.

Practice slowly

Playing slowly will help you to make sure that you can see more details. This will help you to detach from the bad habit of trying to play the piece too fast which often results in missing details and practicing mistakes.

Rhythm

Being aware of the rhythm prevents your piece from sounding “clumpy” and gives your music a more interesting sound. Remember that our job as musicians is to play for an audience as well as play for ourselves. Giving the rhythm of your piece some extra attention will ensure that your piece doesn’t sound rushed or messy.

practice

If you want to take your abilities as an artist to the next level, I highly recommend that you always make a little time for practice. Learning music is a journey which requires regular practice. You can think of practice as a small escape from the world and use it as your own personal time where nobody is allowed to bother you. As long as you keep your mind engaged on the music that you are working on, you won’t be worrying about other things going on in your life!
